DR Strings has added bassist Shez Raja to its artist roster in the UK. Raja plays DR ‘Hi-Beam’ bass strings and says: ‘I greatly admire and share DR’s passion for quality and quite simply think that DR Strings (Hi-Beams) are the best I’ve ever used. They have such a great feel and a very special rich tone.’
Raja’s career to date includes recording albums with Mike Stern, Randy Brecker, Trilok Gurtu and Wayne Krantz. He is a graduate of Leeds College of Music and has gone on to become a widely sought-after session bass player. His early work includes tours with Elephant Talk and Loka before going on to tour with platinum-selling hip-hop artist MC Lyte. He has performed at some of the UK’s most prestigious venues and festivals including Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre, Shepherd’s Bush Empire, Islington Assembly Hall, London Forum and Glastonbury Festival.
Raja’s new album ‘Journey To Shambhala’ is due for release on May 17th with an extensive set of supporting live performances scheduled throughout the year. See www.shezraja.com/gigs for a comprehensive list of live dates.
